How to play

  1. Read the briefing, then pick a line of enquiry. The crossing ends in four minutes of story time, not real time.
  2. Every scene and every interview adds to the Evidence drawer, top right.
  3. When you know who cut the satchel, accuse and name the proof. A wrong name ends the crossing.

Tips

  • The boat is small: there are only eight minutes when nobody was watching the saloon. Work out who could be in them.
  • Two people lie for reasons that have nothing to do with the money. Their lies are still useful.
  • When a statement has been written twice, ask who was holding the pen — and who was holding the book.

About this game

The Ferry Statement is a forty-minute crossing with six passengers and a fare satchel that does not survive it. The clues are in the times as much as in what people say.

It is the second case in the Casegrid case files. You do not need the first one to play it, but the habit of doubting a helpful witness carries over.

FAQ

Do I need to play the other cases first?

No. Each case file stands alone, with its own cast and its own answer.

How long does it take?

About twelve minutes on a first run, less if you go straight for the interviews.

Can I go back and change an accusation?

No. A wrong accusation closes the file; restarting is one tap.
