How to play

  1. Start in the loading bay, then pick a line of enquiry from the museum floor.
  2. Compare what the paperwork says with what the objects say. The gap between them is the case.
  3. Accuse the person who let the painting leave, and name the evidence that puts it on them.

Tips

  • Two crate numbers in one night is not a clerical error. It is a decision somebody typed.
  • A guard’s round card is only as honest as the clock that stamped it.
  • Ask why a painting would be examined under UV light at six in the evening, three days before it travels.

About this game

The Quiet Wing is a museum case about provenance rather than violence: what a painting is worth, what it was bought for, and what a condition report would have said after fifty-eight years.

It is the case with the most paperwork in the set, mostly because the contradictions are in dates and numbers rather than in raised voices.

FAQ

Do I need art history?

No. The case explains UV lamps, crate manifests and condition reports as you meet them.

Why is it harder than the hotel case?

The suspects all tell partial truths. Nothing is a lie except the paperwork.

Is there one answer?

Yes. One person, one document, and one reason.
